What Happened When We Brought Two Towns Together
Love Your Town 2026 brought Grimsby and Cleethorpes to life across two vibrant weekends, transforming town centres into busy, welcoming spaces filled with creativity, activity and community spirit. By activating outdoor areas and heritage buildings with live performances, markets, workshops and interactive experiences, the programme created real energy on the ground, encouraging people to stay longer, explore more and reconnect with their towns. Designed as a joined-up experience across both locations, the dual-town approach allowed each place to shine in its own way while contributing to a wider shared celebration across North East Lincolnshire.
At the heart of the programme was the “Loved by Locals” Red Plaques Trail, which invited residents to share personal stories about the places, people and businesses they care about most. The powerful response led to a public exhibition during the events and a lasting legacy, with plaques now installed across both towns for people to discover. Alongside this, local artists, performers, businesses and community groups were central to the programme, creating an experience shaped by the community itself. The result was more than just a series of events, it demonstrated how culture-led activity can bring people together, support local economies and build a lasting sense of pride and connection.
